What is World Baseball Softball Day?
The World Baseball Softball Day is inaugurated this Friday, May 10, 2024, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC – International Baseball and Softball Federation) and following the successful merger between the International Baseball Federation and the International Softball Federation in 2014.
Since its creation, the WBSC has continued to support the global development baseball and softball, encouraging innovation, teamwork and international collaboration. To honor this sublime fusion of baseball and softball under one banner, the WBSC Executive Committee declared the May 10 as being the official day of celebration of these two disciplines: the World Baseball Softball Day.
Why this date?
May 10 carries a special significance: it is indeed the day when the WBSC elected its first Executive Committee, in 2014, thus marking the start of a new chapter for baseball and softball.
“We define ourselves as a single, unified and strong International Federation. May 10, the day the WBSC was founded in 2014, is a day to celebrate our unity and strength, alongside our 8 Confederations and 191 National Federations” underlines Riccardo Fraccari, WBSC President.

This Friday, May 10, 2024, we invite you more than ever to practice our beautiful disciplines and to introduce them to as many people as possible: by tagging the @FFBS and the @WBSC and using hashtags #BaseballSoftballDay et #WBSD on social networks.
This celebration also takes place at the same time as one of the flagship events of the federal calendar: the 2024 French Baseball Challenge!
We are therefore expecting many of you in Rouen and Chartres from May 9 to 12, 2024, to honor our sports and participate in their development.
