Capital Delegation Team Bogotá Bids Farewell as Athletes Head to National Finals

  • With the delivery of the flag to the athletes who will represent Team Bogotá in the National Finals, the capital delegation was bid farewell.

Bogotá DC, May 24, 2024 – The capital symbols were successfully delivered to Team Bogotá, in a ceremony at the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD). During the event, Laura Sin, Deputy Technical Director of the entity, presented the Bogotá flag to four athletes who would lead the hopes of these youth talents in the competitions. In her speech, she highlighted that these young people are the present and the future of capital sports and that there is no greater pride than representing the colors of our beloved city.

Within the framework of the National Finals of the 2023 Intercollegiate Games, Bogotá will be a shared venue with the city of Valledupar. Between May 25 and June 10, 2024, our city will welcome young athletes from all over the country who will compete in various sports disciplines. The sports that will be developed in Bogotá are: Soccer, Badminton, Futsal, Table Tennis, Para-athletics, Chess and Athletics, in the pre-youth and youth categories. The competitions will take place at the High Performance Center, Parque San Andrés and the El Salitre Sports Unit.

The IDRD has arranged all the necessary resources to guarantee the best experience for participants and attendees, ensuring first-class facilities and impeccable logistics that will allow each meeting and competition to be enjoyed in a safe and welcoming environment.

The event, which will take place simultaneously in Bogotá and Valledupar, seeks to promote school sports and healthy competition, promoting values ​​such as effort, discipline and teamwork among young athletes in our country. Team Bogotá will have the participation of 65 athletes in Bogotá and 36 in Valledupar, for a total of 101 athletes representing 57 educational institutions and 18 locations. The team is made up of 51 men and 50 women, demonstrating a notable gender balance.

We invite the entire community to support these talented young people and enjoy the sporting events that will take place in our city. Entry to the competitions will be free and open to the public, thus promoting inclusion and access to sport for all.
