Brazil’s Paralympic Debut Against Turkey Set for September 1st

Debut will be against Turkey

Brazil debuts on September 1st, against Turkey, at 1:30 pm (Brasília time). The teams faced each other twice in the Paralympic Games, and the Brazilians won both times: 4-0 in London 2012 and 2-0 in Rio 2016.

Hosts France will be the opponents in the second round, on September 2nd, at 3:30 pm Brasília time. Brazil beat the French 2-0 in the final of London 2012 and 4-0 in the group stage of Tokyo 2020.

On September 3rd, it will be time to face the People’s Republic of China, at 1:30 pm Brasília time. In Beijing 2008, a 1-1 draw in the group stage and Brazil’s triumph in the final, 2-1. In London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, Brazilian victories 1-0, 2-1 and 3-0, respectively.

“We will face China, which is one of the best teams in the world, Turkey and France, who will have all the fans in their favor. It was a good group, we will try to qualify, preferably, in first place. It will be a very balanced Paralympics. Let’s work now knowing that they are our opponents”, explained Fábio Vasconcelos, coach of the national team, in statements published by the Brazilian Confederation of Sports for the Visually Impaired (CBDV), which governs sport in Brazil.

The two semi-finals take place on September 5th, and the final is scheduled for the 7th.
