Bayer Leverkusen has managed to finish the Bundesliga undefeated. Xabi Alonso’s team, certain of the title for several weeks, defeated Augsburg on the final day. Bayern gave up a 0-2 lead and thus lost second place to Stuttgart. It was also a poor end to the season for Bochum and Cologne.
Once again it was a party in the BayArena.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen had no problem with Augsburg on the final match day and thus managed to maintain its undefeated status in the Bundesliga. The champion took an early lead thanks to a tap-in from old acquaintance Boniface. Andrich quickly deepened the score, Augsburg never came closer than the tying goal.
Thus, Leverkusen ends the Bundesliga with 28 wins, 6 draws and not a single loss. They have not yet lost in the cup and the Europa League, but finals will follow in those two competitions in the coming weeks.

Bayern loses double lead and second place
FC Bayern Munich had to work hard on the last match day to avoid dropping to third place.
The Rekordmeister realized this when visiting Hoffenheim and took a double lead after just 6 minutes through Tel and Davies. However, a complete turnaround followed. Beier scored against and thanks to a hat-trick from Kramaric, Hoffenheim won 4-2. A bad ending for Thomas Tüchel, he leaves Bayern after this season.
Revelation VfB Stuttgart took full advantage of Bayern’s loss of points. Under the impulse of Guirassy, who again scored 2 goals, Borussia Mönchengladbach won 4-0.
Stuttgart thus jumped over Bayern to second place. For Bayern it is the worst final result since 2010/11.

Union Berlin saves itself in added time, sadness at Cologne and Bochum
Even at the bottom of the rankings, there was still a lot at stake on the final day.
1. FC Köln needed half a miracle to save themselves and that did not happen, Cologne lost out to Heidenheim without a chance and disappeared from the Bundesliga again after 5 years.
1. FC Union Berlin seemed to be on their way to the jump-off against a second division team for a long time, but a penalty in added time decided otherwise. Volland aimed for the post, Haberer put the replay into goal. Union Berlin thus jumps over VfL Bochum, which also saw Mainz jump over it on the final match day.
So Bochum has to go to the jump-off competitions, where they will compete against tradition club Fortuna Düsseldorf.
