Autonomous University of the State of Mexico Shines at 2024 National Universiade with 10 Medals

Aguascalientes, Méx.- The athletes from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, who are representing their alma mater in the 2024 National Universiade, have won 10 medals so far in the competition, the first was bronze and was in the women’s branch of soccer discipline.

This weekend, the highest educational institution in the State of Mexico put the pedal to the metal and added 7 medals in the boxing disciplines, two more in judo, one more in archery and the bronze in women’s soccer; Until this Monday there are 11 medals won by the Wild Colts.

The university boxing representative achieved the greatest number of glories, winning one gold, two silver and four bronze medals. The Mexican Autonomous coach, Simón Reyes, said he was satisfied with this result.

The boxer Oscar Gabriel Palma Castañeda won the gold metal in the 91 kilo category; while the silver medals went to Isabel Jiménez Ramírez, within the 57 kilograms, and Carmita de los Ángeles Herrera López, in the 69 kilograms.

The bronze went to Isis Kendra Sánchez Lara, in the 75 kilograms; Brayan Maximiliano Medina Sánchez Suárez, within 52 kilograms; Aldo Vargas Domínguez, in the 63 kilograms, and Daniel Alcántara López, in the 69 kilograms.

“All the credit goes to the boys. They worked very hard to see their efforts reflected in this universiade, with obtaining the medal,” said the UAEMéx coach, Simón Reyes.

In archery, in the recurve bow modality, the athlete María Rebeca Sánchez Vega won the silver medal. With this result, the student from the Faculty of Chemistry sees all her effort and work during her training crystallized.

The coach of this discipline, Felipe Cuadros, celebrated this result, a product of the concentration and focus of the university student.

Finally, within the judo discipline, the athlete Samantha Carmona Iribe won the bronze medal in the +78 kilograms. The student from the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences said she was happy with this result.

Likewise, in judo, men’s team modality, the group made up of the young Juan Guadarrama, from the Faculty of Humanities; Antonio Huerta, from the Tianguistenco Professional Academic Unit, and Alejandro Gutiérrez, from the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences, won a bronze medal.

The coach of the Mexican autonomous judo discipline, Carlos Alberto García Montes de Oca, explained that these results left him with a good taste in his mouth.
