Aryna Sabalenka can crown the tournament in Madrid with her third title.
For Aryna Sabalenka, the tournament in Madrid has developed into an oasis of well-being. The Belarusian won the Caja Magica title in 2023 and 2021. Last year, the 25-year-old defeated her opponent Iga Swiatek in the final tomorrow, and in 2021 she achieved her first triumph against Ashleigh Barty.
What is interesting, however, is Aryna Sabalenka’s overall record in Madrid. The first two participations in 2018 and 2019 ended with first round defeats. After the corona-related cancellation in 2020, the first title win in Spain’s largest metropolis followed a year later.
Aryna Sabalenka is on the verge of her third title in Madrid
In 2022 it was eliminated again in round one before winning its second title in Madrid last year. So two titles are offset by three first round defeats.
With a win in the final on Saturday against Iga Swiatek, the situation could be evened out. And Madrid will finally become a new oasis of well-being for Sabalenka.
