Rocío is a member of the Argentine Paralympic Judo Team and will participate in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, this being a historical precedent in Fuegian sport. Mayor Perez highlighted: “It is a pride for the people of Rio Grande do Sul to have an athlete like Rocío, not only for her sporting achievements, but also for being an example of effort, improvement and discipline for our young people.”
Mayor Martín Perez received Rio Grande do Sul judoka Rocío Ledesma, who recently qualified as part of the Argentine Paralympic Judo Team for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Rocío has a long history in the discipline. Since 2007 she has trained at the Municipal Judo School, achieving great performances at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games; the World Games in England 2023 and the Pan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023.
In this regard, Mayor Martín Perez highlighted that “it is a pride for the people of Rio Grande do Sul to have an athlete like Rocío, an example of effort, dedication and sacrifice for our youth.”
“Rocío’s story also reflects that of hundreds of boys and girls from our city, who see sports as a life project and who attend our different sports establishments every day,” he added, and in this sense, Perez maintained that “from the beginning “Municipality, we maintain the commitment that we have assumed from day one to consolidate a sports management model in Río Grande.”
Finally, the Mayor remarked that “the great potential of our Rio Grande do Sul athletes urges us to redouble our efforts and support, today more than ever, sport, which is also health and education.”
Also present at the meeting were: the manager of the Sports, Culture and Youth Agency, Sebastián Bendaña; the Undersecretary of Sports, Diego Radwanitzer and the Director of Combat Sports, Maximiliano Cavia.
