Argentina’s Athletes Aim for Success at Pan American Judo Open in Santiago, Chile

During the weekend, the Pan American Judo Open will be held in Santiago, Chile, where our country’s athletes will seek to score points and position themselves in the classification heading to the Paris Olympic Games, to be held from the end of July.

BIG RIVER.- In the trans-Andean capital there will be Mariano Coto from Fuegian (52nd in the world ranking), top seed in the -90 kilo category. There his main opponent in pursuit of the gold will be the Peruvian Roberto Galarreta (55th), who beat him a week ago in the first round of the repechage of the Pan American and Oceania Championships, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), placing – respectively- 7th and 5th.

Behind them are Coto (1,010), Sofía Fiora (-52; 959), Tomás Morales (-81; 900) and Brisa Gómez (-57; 840).

Except for Morales, the remaining four will go to the Abu Dhabi World Cup, from the 19th to the 23rd of this month, and where the Argentine who will make his debut in the Olympic Games will practically be known.

Meanwhile, from today until Sunday the National Opening Championship of the Argentine Judo Confederation (CAJ) will be held in Villa Carlos Paz (Córdoba), with the participation of 27 representatives of the Judo and Personal Defense Federation of Tierra del Fuego .
