Antioquia Swimming Team Shines at National Intercollegiate Games, Wins Multiple Gold Medals

The Antioquia swimming team had an outstanding participation in the first day of the national final of the Intercollegiate Games. Tiffany Murillo Jinete and Tomás Osorio Ortiz won two gold medals each.

Valledupar, Cesar | Full of emotions was the beginning of the national final of the Intercollegiate Games, corresponding to 2023, in Valledupar, where Antioquia added a total of 16 medals, of which six were gold. Here the swimming, carried out in the aquatic complex of the Popular University of Cesar, took the honors for the 14 medals it obtained: six gold, three silver and five bronze.

The golds were won by: Tiffany Murillo Rider (two), Tomás Osorio Ortiz (two), Juan Jose Giraldo and in women’s 4×100 free relay. In silver the exalted were Maria Alejandra Agudelo, Juan Manuel Acuña and Emiliano Calle. In bronze the winners were Juan Jose Giraldo, Guadalupe Gutierrez (two) and Manuela Gonzalez (two).

Skating results

In skating, long-distance tests were run, such as the 10,000 meters, and speed tests, such as Goal against goal y 200 metros, in which our athletes flew. To highlight, in the women’s 10,000 meters event, Sarita Ramírez won the bronze medal and in the same men’s version event, Jerónimo Sánchez won the silver medal.

Regarding her performance in the race, Sarita Ramírez said: “I am very happy because I was very calm, I gave it my all. Regarding the level of other competitors, I think we were all very even and we fought a lot.”

Regarding the competition where he won the silver medal, Jerónimo Sánchez said: in the race there were very aggressive crashes, fouls, and in the end we all lined up. For these two remaining days of competition I hope to continue like this, obtaining good achievements.”

There are two days of competition left, at the Elías Ochoa Daza skatedrome, to find out which delegation emerges as champion of this sporting discipline.

Programming in Bogotá

Bogotá D.C. | The competitions for the national final of the Intercollegiate Games will begin in Bogotá, with an agenda full of sports activities in badminton, junior football, junior futsal and table tennis. Antioquia, with its solid delegation, presents itself with great enthusiasm and aspirations for glory.

The first Antioqueños to test their skills will be the junior soccer players. At 8:00 am, on court number three of the High Performance Center, they will face the representative of Bolívar for group A, which also includes Magdalena and Meta.

Individual sports in Bogotá

In badminton, the Antioquia representatives will compete from 9:00 am, at the San Andrés Coliseum, competing in the group stage in singles and doubles in pre-youth and youth categories. The athletes who will defend the white and green colors are David Ríos Arias, Hanna Escallón Martínez, Jerónimo Alzate Parra, Mario José Cuervo Villa, Melissa Vélez Pérez, Salome Arboleda Berrío, Sebastián Zapata Tamayo and Valentina Villarreal Zapata.
