Antioquia Prepares to Shine in National Final of Intercollegiate Games

· For fifteen days, the Antioqueños will seek glory in the National Final of the Intercollegiate Games.

This multi-sports festival will begin on May 26 and will last until June 9.

· Antioquia will have 247 athletes, who will compete in the twelve sports disciplines that will be in competition. Added to this figure are the coaches, delegates and medical staff.

· Sports activities will take place in two locations: Bogotá DC and Valledupar, Cesar. The first to start competitions: swimming, racing and speed skating.

With a delegation close to 260 representatives, Antioquia will seek glory in the National Final of the Intercollegiate Games, corresponding to the validity of 2023.

This multi-sports meeting will have competitions from Sunday, May 26 to Sunday, June 9, 2024, in sports venues in Bogotá DC and Valledupar, Cesar.

“We want many of our athletes to be able to access that university scholarship that they long for, for which they strive for more than a year throughout the entire cycle that includes the Intercollegiate Games and, thus, really contribute to the improvement of their quality of life,” expressed Viviana Ángel Maya, deputy manager of Sports Promotion and Development at Indeportes Antioquia.

The games schedule, announced by the organization, details that the first sports to come into action will be speed skating and swimming races, both in Valledupar.

On Monday, May 27, it will be the turn of badminton, soccer, indoor soccer and table tennis at the Bogotá headquarters.

Later, basketball, indoor soccer and volleyball will be added, in Valledupar, and chess, athletics and para-athletics, in Bogotá.

Antioquia will have strong representation in all individual sports, both in the pre-youth and youth categories. These talented athletes secured their classification after dominating the departmental phase, held in October 2023 in the municipalities of Andes and Tarazá.

In the group sports disciplines, the talented Antioquian students, who won the ticket to this instance after being the best in the regional phase of the Coffee Axis held in April 2024 in Pereira, come from different educational institutions in the department:

· Men’s volleyball: IE Luis Carlos Galán Sarmiento (Carepa) Youth:

· Women’s basketball: IE Jorge Alberto Gómez Gómez (Granada)

· Men’s basketball: Benedictine School of Santa María (Envigado)

· Women’s soccer: IE El Bagre (El Bagre)

· Women’s indoor soccer: IE Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Ayala (Bello)

· Women’s volleyball: UCN Cybercolegio (Medellín)

· Men’s volleyball: San Ignacio de Loyola School (Medellín)

The sporting activities of the National Final of the Intercollegiate Games will be distributed as follows:

· In Bogotá: chess, athletics, badminton, soccer, indoor soccer, para-athletics and table tennis.

· In Valledupar: basketball, indoor soccer, skating, swimming and volleyball.

These young athletes, coming from different corners of Antioquia, will proudly wear the colors of their department, facing each competition with passion and determination.
