The Italian cyclist Andrea Vendrame (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) won this Friday the nineteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia, held between the towns of Mortegliano and Sappada over 157 kilometers, while the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) remains the leader one day more.

The transalpine achieved his second victory in the Italian race, in which he already won a stage in 2021, and adds his fifth victory as a professional, after a day that was decided in the breakaway, as was foreseeable due to the route.

The breakaway, formed practically from the beginning, was made up of up to three stage winners in this Giro, the German Georg Steinhauser (EF-Education EasyPost), the Ecuadorian Jhonatan Narváez (INEOS Grenadiers), the Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal Quick-Step ) and the Spanish Pelayo Sánchez (Movistar Team).
