When will Angelique Kerber cheer again?

“Simply because I know what a good player she is,” said Petkovic in an interview with the news portal t-online: “Someone like Angie knows how to win big matches and how to play in Grand Slams.”

Petkovic, who ended her career in 2022, says we should continue to keep an eye on the three-time major winner, especially on her favorite surface, grass. Kerber won the title at the classic Wimbledon in 2018 and made it to the semi-finals again in 2021. She is currently preparing for the French Open (from May 26th).

Jule Niemeier (24) and Eva Lys (22) also want to impress there in the future. Petkovic sees both as bearers of hope for German women’s tennis, which currently does not have any players in the top 50. “In terms of talent and ability, I see both players aiming for the top 20 in the near future and in the medium term,” said Petkovic.
