Andre Agassi to Succeed John McEnroe as Team World Captain at Laver Cup

Since the end of their careers, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf have led a withdrawn life. But now the ex-tennis professional will soon have a new job.

Andre Agassi will succeed John McEnroe as Team World Captain at the Laver Cup. As the organizers of the tennis exhibition tournament announced on Wednesday, Agassi, former world number one and eight-time Grand Slam winner, will succeed his fellow American in San Francisco next year. McEnroe has been managing the team since 2017.

“I am truly honored to accept the invitation,” Agassi, husband of German tennis icon Steffi Graf, is quoted as saying in the statement. The seventh edition of the duel between top players from Europe and the rest of the world in Berlin (20 to 22 September) will be McEnroe’s last.

Team Europe’s captain is still former world number one Björn Borg from Sweden. His team won the invitation tournament in the first four events, and the world selection prevailed in 2022 and 2023.
