Amazon could charge a monthly subscription for a version of its Alexa assistant with AI – El Sol de México

New York, May 22 (EFE).- The technology giant Amazon is considering charging Alexa users a monthly fee when it launches a version of its voice assistant with artificial intelligence later this year, as reported on Wednesday by CNBC.

This fee will help pay for the upgrade, but the company apparently hasn’t decided on a price yet; In any case, the new product will not be included in the Prime subscription of $139 per year, according to the economic portal.

With this renewal of its popular assistant, Amazon seeks to compete with other AI chatbots such as those from Google and OpenAI.

In 2023, Amazon announced that it was working on a “smarter, more conversational Alexa, powered by generative AI.”

“It is based on a new large language model (LLM) that has been custom built and optimized specifically for voice interactions, and the things we know our customers love: real-time information, intelligent control and efficient home and maximize your home entertainment,” the company said in a statement.
