Cuba’s participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games is guaranteed. The selection of the athletes who will star in this quadrennial multi-sport event has not yet been completed, however, so far, the athletics team that will represent the Island officially consists of three directly qualified teams.

Robiel Yankiel Sol Cervantes, one of those already qualified for the France 2024 Paralympic Games.

The athletes who have already been classified got their places at the Paris 2023 World Championships. These are Omara Duran Elías, 100, 200 and 400 meter sprinter in the T12 category; Robiel Yankiel Sol Cervantes, long jump athlete in the T46 category; and Ulises Aguilar, javelin thrower in the F13 category.

The Cuban delegation should have a greater number of athletes due to their locations in the World Ranking. However, these places do not become effective until June 30 of this year, a date determined by the International Paralympic Committee (CIP), which is in charge of assigning the places that will be approved according to the results and location in this Ranking. .

Luis Alberto Bueno Chávez, coach of the National Para-Athletics Team, expressed: “We want to participate with a larger number of athletes with respect to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The goal is to try to unite the team with people who compete in sports in those that Cuba has never participated in, such as badminton, taekwondo and archery, categories that are in the classification process.”

Another primary objective shared between athletes and coaches alike is to reach one of the top positions in the medal table, for which they would have to obtain more medals and stand out as finalists. All with the firm purpose of representing his country with dignity. This challenge requires discipline and dedication, with the noble desire to fill your beloved nation with pride.
