The last match of the day between Alexander Zverev and Sebastian Ofner was completed in two quick rounds. Zverev won 6:3, 6:4 after 79 minutes of play and is now in the round of 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in the Principality of Monaco.
Ofner was under a lot of pressure from the start when playing his own service, had to go over deuce on his first service game and only completed his opening with the third game ball. Zverev’s break came in the 27-year-old’s second service game. The worm was also in the Styrian’s third service game, but Zverev did not take advantage of four further break opportunities. In the end, act one was still a clear affair for the monegasque by choice.

In the second round, Ofner suffered two service losses at 15 before he was able to shorten the score to 3:5 with an “honor break”. As a result, Zverev served without humor. The man from Bruck an der Mur failed to win a set in the fourth duel with the German number one, but Zverev is in the round of the last 16 for the seventh time in Monte Carlo.
The 2021 Olympic gold medalist will now face either the Greek number twelve in the event, Stefanos Tsitsipas, or the Argentinian Thomas Etcheverry in the round of 16. The second game between the southern European and the South American will be played tomorrow on the Court des Princes.
