Young Austrian Tennis Star Joel Schwärzler Making Waves at Tallahassee Challenger Tournament

Bravo Joel Schwärzler! After his first match win at a Challenger tournament, the 18-year-old from Vorarlberg immediately followed up with the next success.

Schwärzler (ATP 941) won on Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Tallahassee Challenger 6:1, 7:6 (5) against the Brit Henry Searle (ATP 764), who is the same age.

ÖTV sports director Jürgen Melzer’s protégé will make a big leap forward in the ATP rankings on Monday. Thanks to the twelve ATP points he has already earned in Tallahassee, he will currently move up around 149 places and take position 792.

With another win, Schwärzler could even be in the top 700. But the next task will be anything but easy: The Austrian will now face 30-year-old American Mitchell Krueger in the quarterfinals – the current number 277 in the world and has been on the tour for twelve years!
