WNBA: Top talent Caitlin Clark plays for Indiana Fever

As expected, top talent Caitlin Clark was selected first in the WNBA professional basketball league draft.

Indiana Fever secured the services of the 22-year-old, who holds the college’s gender-independent points record with 3,951 points and is already a star in the USA.

Clark’s last game with her University of Iowa team, the college championship final loss against South Carolina, was watched by an average of 18.7 million TV viewers.

Indiana Fever hasn’t been in the playoffs for a long time

“I’ve dreamed of this moment since I was in second grade and it took a lot of hard work, a lot of ups and downs,” Clark said in the “ESPN” interview: “I always believed in myself. I have “I told my mother beforehand that I deserved it, and that’s why I’m so proud of it.”

Indiana last made the playoffs in 2016, and an average of just 4,066 spectators attended the team’s games last season. That should now change with Clark.

Tickets are in high demand

Even before the draft, the franchise had begun selling a limited number of tickets for individual matches; seats for the games against Connecticut and Los Angeles were sold out just a few hours after sales began.

“The last few weeks have obviously been pretty crazy in my life,” Clark said. “I’m just very lucky to be in this moment and all these opportunities and things only come once in a lifetime.”
