VITERBO – Last match at PalaMalè in the “Play-In” phase of the championship for WeCOM-Ortoetruria who beat Amatori Pescara and greeted the many fans who gathered in the stands, giving them the twelfth victory out of fifteen matches played within friendly walls. A true record that allowed the Biancostellati to reach confirmation of the category well in advance and to participate in the second phase, playing right down to the last minute for that place in the playoffs which had eluded them due to a couple of distractions suffered away from home.

Against Pescara Fanciullo starts with the usual quintet and the entire first half is played point by point, with the guests who, thanks to 9 free throws obtained and all on target, close the first 10′ at 18 all. Viterbo had a good restart, extending to 23-18 and then maintaining the lead in the quarter until 35-27 3′ from the half-time siren. Time out for the Abruzzo team, Stella maintains 8 points, but goes into the long break at 45-40 in a pleasant match played at a good pace. Upon returning, Pescara catches up and then overtakes the blue and whites a couple of times during the always very balanced third half and after 30′ the scoreboard shows 61-58 for the home team. WeCOM-Ortoetruria approaches the final period better and after about 4′ scores a small break which earns them 70-62. The Abruzzo team tries to react, but Fanciullo’s boys carefully monitor their opponents’ restart attempts and with less than 3 laps to go they lead 77-68. Amatori’s latest attack which brings them back to -4, but the home team maintains the clarity and coolness necessary to bring home one of the many pink scores collected on their parquet. At the end of the match everyone was in the middle of the field to receive the well-deserved and warm applause of the fans who, like never before this year, have always been numerous and involved in supporting the boys in this beautiful and exciting championship. Last match of the season on Sunday in Porto Recanati, with the regret of not being able to really compete for a prestigious place in the playoffs, but satisfied with a season that can certainly be defined as being of an excellent level.
