During the Tour of the Basque Country on Thursday, several cycling stars fell at high speed on a descent. Among the victims were Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard, former world champion Remco Evenepoel and leader Primoz Roglic, who had fallen to the ground the day before. Defending champion Vingegaard appeared to have been seriously injured; the Danish defending champion was transported away with a neck brace.
Others also needed emergency medical care. Evenepoel probably injured his collarbone, as could be seen on TV pictures. The fourth stage was neutralized a few minutes after the mass fall.
