Viñales repeats in the Las Américas sprint with Marc Márquez second

The Spanish driver Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) conquered the sprint race of the Grand Prix of the Americas this Saturday, making good use of his superior pace and his start from pole, on a Spanish podium alongside Marc Márquez (Ducati) and Jorge Martín (Ducati ).

Viñales, who already won the last sprint in Portugal, won with authority and without rivals from the start that he had won shortly before instead of privilege. The one from Figueres rode alone and with a margin, while behind him several battles were brewed, the one between Márquez, Acosta and Martín being very attractive.

Márquez emerged victorious, defending a creditable second place that was increasingly made on his new bike. The former Repsol Honda rider had to be strong with Pedro Acosta (KTM), the rookie who once again fought back to be fourth, and also with Martín who made a great comeback starting from sixth position.

The World Championship leader, who had a fall in Q2, forgot about that misstep to get back into the fight for the podium. The Madrid native had to settle for being third after not being able to manage the tires as much in his climb, but he extended his lead in the general standings over Enea Bastianini (Duacti) who was sixth, behind the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), fifth.

In search of points there was also a nice exchange of positions. The world champion, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), finished seventh, in a great appetizer of this Sunday’s Grand Prix, where the Spanish color threatens to rule in Austin.
