In the midst of reconstruction, the Texan squad did not have the weapons to take part in the fight for the playoffs. But on an individual level, the French interior made everyone agree, with an impressive stats line for a rookie: 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals. These statistics, combined with his numerous brilliance, the last of which dates back to the night from Friday to Saturday, with 17 points scored in three minutes in the victory against Denver, undoubtedly make him one of the best rookies in the story.
“I always tell myself that I haven’t done enough”
When it comes time to take stock of his first season in the NBA, the Spurs having played their last match on Sunday evening (123-95 victory against Detroit, without the Frenchman, forfeit), Wembanyama does not appear satisfied. “I think that in terms of evolution between my first match and my prime (its peak), I am at 15% of my capacities today”, he proclaims in the columns of The team.
Speaking to the sports daily, the Spurs insider assures that he would have liked to do even more. “Every day, I try to surpass myself, to set new records, to win more matches. But the next day, I always tell myself that I haven’t done enough, to push myself even more,” proclaims -he.
Before preparing for the Olympic Games with the Blues, Wembanyama will stay a little in the United States. After a few days of rest to recharge the batteries, private training and fitness training are planned in Dallas, where the premises of Comsport, the company of its agents, Bouna Ndiaye and Jérémy Medjana, are located. A return to France is obviously planned during this period, to spend time with family and possibly meet contractual obligations.
