Although Victor Wembanyama is still only in his first season, some believe that he can already claim the biggest awards, including Defender of the Year. His card against Philadelphia also shook the web in the United States.
When it comes to establishing himself as Rookie of the Year, we can say that Victor Wembanyama frankly has no more effort to make. It must be remembered once again: if Wemby’s individual stats are breathtaking, that is not everything to become DPOY. Minnesota has the best defense in the country and leads the Western Conference thanks to Gobzilla, while San Antonio hasn’t even won 20 games this season. But for the US fans, all that doesn’t matter and they want Rudy to be snubbed in a few weeks.

Rudy Gobert is not really popular in the United States, which also explains why fans are so pro-Wembanyama. But it is the French veteran who should be rewarded at the end of the season. Regardless for the young Spurs center, he will surely have other opportunities to win the trophy in the years to come.
