Mario van der Ende is very pleased with the VAR during the match between Ajax and FC Twente. The tool had to come into action twice against the Amsterdam team.
For example, with a 1-0 lead for FC Twente, the referee gave a penalty to Ajax. However, the VAR determined that the violation had been committed outside the area and intervened. In the end the score was 1-1 from that free kick.
Later the referee overlooked a penalty when Devyne Rensch was brought down on the back line by Anass Salah-Eddine. The VAR sent him to the screen and, according to Van der Ende, another example of the value that VAR has, he writes X.
