Alejandra Valencia’s Strong Performance at Archery World Cup in Shanghai

Alejandra Valencia continues her participation in the Archery World Cup held in Shanghai, China, where she was very close to the podium in the Mixed Team recurve bow category.

The Olympic archer from Sonora finished in fourth place, along with Matías Grande, during the first stage of the World Cup competition on Asian soil, which serves as part of the training of the Aztec delegation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Although both archers already have their ticket to Parisian soil, they remained very close to the podium, after falling in the fight for the bronze medal, against the Indian duo (Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevera), by a score of 6- 0.

In the qualifying round, the Aztec duo was seventh with a total of 1,352 units, advancing as a “bye” to the first round and, subsequently, beating Chinese Taipei 5-4 in the round of 16.

Already in the quarterfinals they beat Iran by the same score (Mobina Fallah and Faez Mohammadizardkhaneh), but fell 5-3 against Spain (Elia Canales and Andrés Temiño) in the semifinals, being delegated to the duel for bronze, where they could not beat their counterpart Asian.

For her part, the Hermosillo native fell in the women’s First Individual Round, against her teammate, the Mexican Ángela Ruiz, 6-4; In the Olympic Round, Valencia Trujillo finished in 24th place with (657 points).

In the same way, but as part of the Mexican shortlist, along with Ruiz and Ana Paula Vázquez, they were the eleventh ranked team (1,948 points), beating India in the round of 16 (Ankita Bhakat, Kaur Bhajan and Deepika Kumari) by 5- 3, but losing in the quarterfinals to Germany (Elisa Tartler, Charline Schwarz and Katharina Bauer) by 5-4.
