Valencia Basket has reached an agreement to incorporate the Franco-Guinean center Alpha Kaba (2.08m, Blois (France), 01/29/1996, 28 years old) until the end of the 2023-24 season. The player has left the Jiangsu Dragons after finishing his participation in the Chinese league with numbers of 16.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.5 recoveries and 1.4 blocks for an average of 24 credits in 49 games. In his career he has four years of experience in the EuroCup and a career that has led him to previously play in the French league, the Turkish BSL (of which he was MVP in the 2021-22 season with Gaziantep) and the Liga Adriatic.
Alpha Kaba is an accomplished rebounding specialist. He has finished his CBA campaign as the leader in both total rebounds (13.1) and offensive rebounds (5.1). In his last match, played yesterday, he captured 26 rebounds to leave the tournament as the leader in this section. In his previous tour, he also finished as the leader in rebounds in the EuroCup (2022-23), the Adriatic League (2016-17) and the Turkish league (2021-22). The player will begin the trip to our city today and, if he passes the relevant medical examination, he will immediately join training with our first men’s team. The Club is doing everything in its power to have the necessary documentation so that he can make his debut next Sunday.
The new Taronja player began playing basketball in his hometown before joining the youth ranks of Pau-Orthez, with whom he debuted in the French League on the first day of the 2014-15 season with 2 points and 4 rebounds in a victory against Orleans. After eight games in the French competition with the first team, in addition to playing with the Pau-Orthez under-21 team, he signed for the Serbian Mega Leks with which he played in the Adriatic League for two seasons: 8.1 points and 6 rebounds in the 2015-16 season and 10.9 points and 7.5 rejections in the 2016-17 season to be the best rebounder in the competition. In that campaign he debuted in European competitions, reaching double figures (10.7 points and 9.8 rebounds) in the BCL. After his candidacy in the previous two years, Kaba remains in the 2017 draft and is chosen in position 60 by the Atlanta Hawks, with whom he participates in the Las Vegas Summer League.
