PACHUCA DE SOTO, 17 APR/NEWS HIDALGO/.- The Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH), through the Sports Promotion Directorate, recognized 87 Garza athletes, who obtained outstanding results in the sports field, within the different state, national and international competitions that took place during the year 2023.
During the Sixth Edition of the University Sports Gala, Armando Zunzunegui Escamilla, director of sports promotion, highlighted that through continuous work, perseverance and the unconditional support of their families, the university athletes won the first places in their respective sports. “Thanks to all of you, we are the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo, we are Garzas thanks to you,” he declared.
At the same time, he reiterated that the highest house of study in the entity is committed to promoting sports, which is why it began a project to remodel its facilities at the University Extension Center (CEUNI), as well as in each of the 19 academic units, with the aim of offering decent spaces to its athletes and university community. On the other hand, the Sports Promotion Directorate constantly works to monitor its athletes, providing them with support through nutritional, psychological care and sports medicine.
The Autonomous University of Hidalgo obtained outstanding results at the international level through Uriel Gómeztagle, winner of the bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, in the Team TK3 team combat modality, Paulo Cesar Campos Jarillo and Mariana Dominguez Castañeda, second and fourth place respectively in the Pan-American cadet and youth Taekwondo competitions, held in the Dominican Republic.
While in the Games of the National Commission of Culture and Sports (Conade) within the regional and national phase in the disciplines of taekwondo, judo, athletics, boxing, cycling, chess, powerlifting, swimming, basketball and triathlon, in turn , the Taekwondo and Lima lama associations of the UAEH achieved important triumphs.
Natali Gómez Martínez, classified for the Conade National Games in the swimming category and representing her teammates, expressed that each of the recognized university athletes left their mark in the history of the UAEH, therefore, their effort , determination and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The Sports Promotion Directorate recognized coaches Juan Antonio Madrigal Carmona, Mauricio Licona González and Julio César Gómeztagle Ramírez in the discipline of Taekwondo; Victor Anaya Ordaz in the area of judo and Gabriel Huesca Vergara in the Lima Lama sports practice, the work of Armando Zepeda Bastida and Míriam Vargas, extension agents of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (ICAp) and the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, was also distinguished ( ICSHu) respectively.
As part of the sports ceremony, there was the outstanding participation of the “UAEH Jump Rope Club”,
belonging to ICSHu, made up of Dorian Belitsky Alexis, Vania Odalys Solares García, Mardeli Joana Rosas
Argüelles, Martin Joskua Cárdenas Polanco, Laura Ivana Vargas Vázquez, Daniel Humberto Santiago Santiago, Citlalli Guadalupe Rivas Cruz and Luis Eduardo Leyva Montes; who, through their precise and bold handling of the rope, enchanted the audience.
It should be noted that throughout six editions of the UAEH University Sports Gala, the high performance of 354 university athletes has been recognized, who regardless of adversity have raised the name of the highest educational institution in the entity.
