Tufts University Football Players Named to 2024 Hampshire Honor Society

MEDFORD, MA (April 11, 2024) – Twenty Tufts University football players were announced today as members of the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame’s (NFF) 2024 Hampshire Honor Society.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.2 (4.0 scale).

Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either a senior player, who will graduate this year and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2023; or a graduated player who has been out of high school at least (3) years. The honorees must have attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale), and were starters or contributors throughout the 2023 season.

The Jumbos achieving the distinction are Gus Bickert, Luke Botsford, Michael Butler, Travis Cepalia, EJ Comerford, Jonathan Faber, Andrew Franco, Victor Garza, Drew Guida, Blair Horning, Ed Iuteri, Kent Oliver, Shane Reiner, Jaden Richardson, Javi Rios, Kristian Rosario, Travis White, Marshall Wiese, Andrew Wiesley and Jeremy Zuniga.

This group were the leaders of head coach Jay Civetti’s Jumbo team that finished 6-3 last fall. The defensive players contributed to a unit that was first in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) allowing just 250.8 yards per game. The offensive players were part of the group that was second in the league averaging 31.1 points and 420.4 yards per contest.

An elite group of 1,988 players from 339 schools qualified for Hampshire Honor Society membership in 2024, setting a new record for the number of members in a single year during the program’s 18-year history.
