Tribute to Julio Brache: Dedication of XIII RBI Fundación Rica de Villa Altagracia Baseball Tournament

A minute of applause was given in honor of the recently deceased president-founder of Grupo Corporativo Rica, Mr. Julio Brache.

Businessman Julio Virgilio Brache Álvarez highlighted the sporting and human qualities that adorn the national baseball commissioner, Junior Noboawhich motivated the dedication of the XIII RBI Fundación Rica de Villa Altagracia Baseball Tournament, at the Club Los Prados stadium, in this capital.

The president of the Board of Directors of Fundación Rica indicated that “it is an honor to dedicate this tournament to an exemplary figure in the world of baseball and sports in general, a great Dominican player who represented us for eight seasons in the Major Leagues and who accumulated several records in the Dominican League (winter baseball).”

He then presented a recognition to Noboa, accompanied by baseball luminaries, the first Dominican immortal from Cooperstown, Juan Marichal, Moisés Alou and Winston –Chilote- Llenas, as well as the IOC member, Luis Mejía and Braulio Brache Álvarezexport director of the consortium and who previously presented the profile of the honoree, with important details of his career as an athlete, baseball executive, personal and family.

Junior Noboa thanks

In his turn of thanks, Junior Noboa assured that Fundación Rica is not only developing young baseball players but also good citizens for the country, through the Villa Altagracia RBI Baseball Tournament, which it coordinates with the Major League Baseball (MLB) office.

The welcome speech at the formal event was given by Wenceslao Soto, executive director of Fundación Rica, after the interpretation of the national anthem and the blessing by Father Tomás Díaz, from the La Merced Foundation.

Don Juan Marichal performed the honorary pitch, received Junior Noboa and the Israeli ambassador to the country, Raslam Abu Rukun, served as batter.
