Tour of the Basque Country: after the “nasty fall”, Pogacar wishes his competitors “good recovery”

What if the big winner of this fall was, despite himself, Tadej Pogacar? The double winner of the Tour de France (2020, 2021) saw three of his competitors fall violently this Thursday during the 4th stage of the Tour of the Basque Country to final victory during the Grande Boucle this summer. Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel both suffer from collarbone injuries three months before the start of the 2024 Tour de France. Primoz Roglic simply gave up but seemed in better condition than his competitors.

“I wish all my comrades in the peloton a speedy recovery after their hard fall today,” Pogacar did not fail to support, on X (ex-Twitter), notably citing his teammate Jay Vine, who is suffering, him, of a “cervical fracture and two fractures of the vertebral body of the thoracic spine”.

“Falls are never something we want to see in cycling. Unfortunately, today we saw a very nasty one,” regretted the Slovenian who knows the situation of these rivals perfectly. At the dawn of the 2023 Tour de France, he saw his preparation greatly disrupted by multiple wrist fractures.

The duration of the absences of Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel is not yet known. Also involved in the fall, Primoz Roglic was able to leave in the car of his Bora sports director, with his thumb raised towards the camera.
