Toronto Blue Jays Snap Losing Streak with Stellar Performance Against Dodgers

To get back to winning ways, the Toronto Blue Jays needed all the help they could hope for on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The outfielders made several spectacular catches, including George Springer in the 9th inning, Kevin Gausman had his best outing of the season and Alejandro Kirk hit his first home run of the season to end a five-game losing streak with a win 3 to 1.

Daulton Varsho and Isiah Kiner-Falefa hit consecutive groundouts in the second inning to allow runners to cross home plate. Kirk then hit his first home run this season, 381 feet from home plate.

Gausman (1-3) allowed one run and five hits, striking out five batters in seven innings of work in what was his best performance of the season. He did not give up any walks.

First baseman Freddie Freeman homered in the sixth inning for the Dodgers (18-12), who saw their winning streak end at six games.

The Blue Jays avoided a sweep of this three-game interleague series. They have won at least one game in every series played so far this season.

After runs scored by Justin Turner and Davis Schneider, Kirk made it 3-0 with his homer to right field. It was also what concluded Michael Grove’s work day on the mound.
