Tomáš Hertl shines as the Golden Knights defeat the Colorado Avalanche in dramatic fashion

Originally he wanted to start the comeback of the Golden Knights, in the end he completed the famous turn. And he experienced what it’s like to be the main star of the evening in the T-Mobile Arena. Tomáš Hertl managed the valuable scalp of the Colorado Avalanche with a precise stroke and hoped: “This is the first time my children have come to see me in Vegas. Maybe they saw the goal.”

“I guess it was karma.”

Hertl jokingly glossed over the fact that (not only) from his point of view, the referees strictly disallowed him a 1:2 goal in the second period, after which he scored the winning goal in overtime.

Jack Eichel encouraged him to touch the puck with an ideally high and well-placed shot. Unattacked by anyone, the 48-year-old Czech behaved similarly confidently.

Opponents recognize that even in the colors of the Golden Knights, the Slavist protege will park in front of their goalkeepers and do damage there thanks to his massive figure, skillful hands and quick reflexes.

Hertl already made his mark from the front goal area against Minnesota, Wild scored his first goal for Vegas thanks to a well-placed and powerful shot.

He ran red lights twice with Colorado on Monday night. First, in the 27th minute, the Avs coach’s challenge, or the subsequent decision of the arbitrators, took away his joy.

He lightly touched Georgiev’s forehand, that could have been a problem, even though he was moving outside the goal area. Many fans on social networks did not agree with the judges, some chose words like scandalous or comedy.

However, the men in stripes had nothing against Hertl’s strike from overtime. They couldn’t even, the trick was textbook. “It’s always nice to decide on an extension,” praised the bronze medalist from the 2022 WC.

He is not thinking about the world championship, although played at home in his native Prague, this time. “I hope I have a lot of goals in store for the playoffs,” he looks forward to the fight for the Stanley Cup.
