The Taínas and Taínos of UAGM on the Path to LAI Basketball Finals

The Taínas and Taínos of the Ana G. Méndez University (UAGM) are one step away from qualifying for their first LAI basketball final, after achieving great victories at the beginning of the semifinal series.

In the women’s branch, the quintet defeated the Vaqueras of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) of Bayamón 66-64. For its part, the favorite team to win the tournament in the men’s branch finished off, 74-67, the Leones de la UPR de Ponce.

Both series will continue this Wednesday. The Cowgirls of the UPR of Bayamón will arrive at the Taíno tribe village at 7:00 at night in Gurabo. While the Taínos will visit the UPR of Ponce in the southern campus at 7:00 at night.

The defending basketball champions, the Juanas of the UPR of Mayagüez, handed the first defeat, 77-62, to the Pioneras of the Pontificia Universidad Católica, to take advantage of the semifinal series.

The second meeting between both quintets will be this Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Rafael Mangual Coliseum of the UPR in Mayagüez.

On the other hand, the Tigres of the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico (UIPR) under the command of Carlos Rivera scored a great victory by beating the Tarzanes of the UPR of Mayagüez 85-57.

Both teams will meet this Wednesday at 8:30 pm at the Rafael Mangual Coliseum in the Mayagüez area.
