The Port of Seville, a railway logistics node in the south of the peninsula, improves its infrastructure with the expansion of the siding located in the Torrecuéllar Industrial Estate, next to the Free Trade Zone and parallel to the Lock road. The works will allow convoys up to 750 meters in length to be accommodated and optimize flows within the railway ring that connects the Sevillian port.

The Port Authority of Seville (APS) will invest more than 600,000 euros in the construction of this siding, whose work is scheduled to be completed around the month of May.

With this action, the APS aims to improve the planning of railway circulation, by enabling a new parking and waiting space for freight trains. Specifically, the project consists of extending the useful length of the existing siding, located on the single-track branch that goes to the lock, which will provide greater capacity to the Port’s railway infrastructure.

This action is co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism and the NextGeneration EU Funds, within the line of reinforcement of Environmental Sustainability of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain.

The execution of the works has involved a large-scale maneuver that was successfully completed by the winning company, Railsur. The work has consisted of lifting, moving and installing a section of the railway track to position it on the siding, a structure that reaches 47.9 meters in length.
