The safety and health of NFL athletes is a priority for the league and the NFLPA. For this reason, year after year, they are responsible for innovating helmets to avoid craniocerebral trauma and other head injuries.
Now, for the 2024 season, the league, in conjunction with the union, announced that players will be able to choose from 12 new helmets. From them, five achieved historic results that had never been recorded in the NFL and the two most notable are the Riddell Axiom 3D (R61227) and the Xenith Orbit Pro.
Jeff Miller, NFL executive vice president of Player Health and Safety, said the league is proud of how helmets have improved over the past decade.
“We are proud to see so many new helmets that continue the improvement we have seen over the last decade,” Miller said. “Likewise, the availability of position-specific helmets is essential in our efforts to give players the best protection possible.”
The highest-rated helmet for quarterbacks was the VICIS ZERO2 MATRIX ID QB (19016), while the helmet for offensive and defensive linemen was the Xenith Orbit Pro.
