In preparation for the 2024 World Championship in Prague and Ostrava, the Latvian national ice hockey team will play the first test match tonight, on April 10, in Arena Riga, against the Finnish national team.

The two national teams will play each other tomorrow as well. It will be possible to watch the matches of the Latvian national team live on the TV6 channel!
It should be noted that Konsta Helenius, a super talent born in 2006, is included in the Finnish national team for the matches against Latvia, who is expected to be the TOP10 number of the first round in the NHL draft. Also, the author of the golden goal of the 2022 Olympic Games – Hannes Bjorninen, and several more titled World Champions and Vice-Champions will play in the Finnish team.
The Finnish hockey team for these matches includes 13 players from the Finnish Championship, 9 from the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and 4 from the Swiss National League (NLA).
After the matches with the Finnish hockey team, Latvia has two test matches (April 26 and 27) away against the Swiss team.
The team led by Vītoliņš will conclude the preparation phase with matches on May 3 and 4 at “Arena Rīga” against the Norwegian team.
In the first two test matches (April 4 and 5) in the Daugava Ice Hall, Latvia defeated the Austrian team 3:2 and 3:2.
