The founder of the Traviesas Hockey Club, Julio Barreira, dies

It is considered sporty father of many young people who years ago wanted to get into Vigus roller hockey. On June 3, 2024, it will be 55 years since Julio founded the Traviesas Hockey Club. We are deeply saddened that he was not able to witness the celebration of this anniversary in style. Barreira had started playing hockey in Ponteareas at the age of 14 and had moved to Vigo at the age of 19, in 1955. A year later, he began playing for Traviesas, a club that he legally incorporated in 1969 and in which he remained until 1975, when he was appointed president of the Southern Galician Federation. In 1982 he left for Madrid for work reasons, returning to the city twenty years later.
