The European Badminton Championships: Finals Approaching with Strong Performances from Danish Players

The European Badminton Championships are approaching the final phase. In the men’s draw, the march continues Viktor Axelsen: another victory in two sets for the Dane against his compatriot Rasmus Gemke, now for him the Frenchman Toma Junior Popov who got the better of Ade Resky Dwicahyo. In the other semi-final there will be the other Dane Anders Antonsen and the Finnish Joakim Oldorff, who eliminated our Giovanni Toti in the second round.

The Spanish also confirms the prediction Carolina Marin in the women’s draw: the number 5 in the BWF ranking, who beats the French Leonice Huet 21-18 21-15; against her the Danish Julie Dawall Jakobsen, who surprisingly beats her compatriot Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt. On the other side of the board Kirsti Gilmour beats Line Christophersen and will face the Turkish Neslihan Arin, who beat Rosy Oktavia Pancasari.

Men’s doubles which sees the classic dominance of Denmark: three out of four couples are in the semi-finals. It will be a derby between Kjaer/Sofaard and Sondergaard/Toft, while the intruders are the British pair Lane/Vendy, who will face Astrup/Rasmussen. The plan in the women’s tournament is different: easy successes for Jille/Seinen and Lambert/Tran against the sisters Sjoo and Macpherson/Torrance, as well as for the Bulgarian sisters Stoeva, who will have the Turkish Ercetin/Inci in the semifinals. In the mixed doubles final it will be between the Danes Christiansen and Boje and the French Gicquel and Delrue.
