In the past, he dreamed of playing for the Polish national team. “However, he was too weak to play and ultimately never appeared on the pitch,” we read on the website of Górnik Zabrze, where the Argentine was tested. Pyziak senior flew to Poland, but his career slowed down significantly due to the illness of his loved ones. It turns out that Gustavo Pyziak is strongly determined for his son to play in the Polish national team in the future. Recently, Lucas even received Polish citizenship after 19 months of waiting.
– I managed to submit the documents at the embassy, the procedure was ultimately faster because I am a Polish citizen. I presented all the documents in September 2022 and we waited – said the 43-year-old in an interview with “Przegląd Sportowy”. The Dom Futbolu profile on X also reported the matter.
– Lucas is doing very well with his club Velez Sarsfield. He is already part of the under-21 team and he is only 17 years old. We hope this will continue. If he continues to improve his game, he will have a good chance of making a career, adds the father of the 17-year-old, who does not hide the fact that his Polish roots are very important to him.
– My father cared very much about traditions and memory. I approached it differently, but the more time passes, the more I love Poland and I pass these values on to my children. We often eat dumplings – Gustavo Pyziak said in October in “Przegld Sportowy”. His son has not had the opportunity to visit Poland yet. He also doesn’t know our language, but Cash’s example showed that this is not an obstacle in the game for the Polish team.
