That’s why “Saudi golfers” are no longer welcome at the Masters

At the Masters everything stays the same. This makes it increasingly difficult for LIV professionals to qualify for the first golf major of the year. Augusta National Golf Club Chairman Fred Ridley announced at his annual press conference that there will be no new qualifying criteria for his exclusive club’s 2025 invitational tournament.

For professionals who are not automatically invited thanks to a green victory jacket in Augusta or success at one of the other three majors in the last five years, the previous doors remain open: a tournament victory on the PGA Tour, a place in the top 30 of the annual rankings of the FedEx Cup or in the top 50 of the world rankings at the end of the previous year and two weeks before the start of the Masters. This year, these strict conditions meant that among the 89 participants (including five amateurs) there were only 13 professionals who were banned from the PGA Tour as defectors.
