The first edition of the ‘Graziano Sentimenti’ athletics Memorial organized by the Imola section of the Veterans of Sport proved to be a success. The event, supported by the municipal sports office and Atletica Imola Sacmi Avis, is included in the program to relaunch the city student championships promoted by the association. A path that last year saw the positive return of the women’s volleyball and men’s basketball tournaments named after Dante Mazzucca and Gianni Zappi. A nice way to pay homage to the memory of Sentimenti, a fundamental figure for the preparation of many athletes in the area among the ranks of Capri, Cooppiori, Sacmi and then Atletica Avis Imola. A series of competitions, reserved for the male and female students and junior categories of the Imola high schools, in which the high school campuses, Paolini-Cassiano and Scarabelli-Ghini, took part. The verdict of the competitions, which took place at the Romeo Galli stadium inside the Autodromo, rewarded the hurdles, speed, middle distance, shot put, high and long jump specialties and the 4×100 relays. In the general calculation of the final results, with medals awarded to the first three classified in each race and plaques for the institutes, a great celebration for the city’s high school center with the victory of a trophy which will then be up for grabs in future editions. The awards ceremony saw the presence of the deputy mayor Fabrizio Castellari. “An event appreciated by all – said the president of the Imola section of the Veterans of Sport, Giovanni Mazzini –.
