A week after his title in Monte Carlo, the Greek tennis professional Stefanos Tsitsipas missed his next tournament victory. In a repeat of last week’s final, the 25-year-old lost to Norwegian Casper Ruud in Barcelona.
Ruud, also 25, took revenge for the defeat in Monte Carlo at the clay court event and celebrated the biggest of his eleven titles.

The tournament also focused on the comeback of Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal (37), who was eliminated in the second round after a forced break of more than three months. His compatriot Carlos Alcaraz (20) had to miss his start as defending champion in Barcelona due to an injury to his right batting arm.
Next week we will continue with a combined women’s and men’s event in Madrid. The sporting highlight of the clay court season is the French Open, which begins in Paris at the end of May.
