According to Kiper’s comments on Odunze, he considered selecting an edge rusher or offensive tackle with the 9th pick, but ultimately went with a wide receiver. He addressed one of those positions by choosing Amegadjie from Yale.

In this simulated draft, the Bears did not select any edge rushers in the first three rounds.

First overall selection: Caleb Williams, quarterback from USC.

Prior to the draft, Mel Kiper and Field Yates, analysts for ESPN NFL, collaborated on a three-round mock draft. They alternately select picks in order, beginning with the Bears at the top pick.

“According to Kiper, Amegadjie’s body stature of 6 feet 5 inches and unique qualities make him a promising player, despite only participating in four games due to an October injury that tore his quad muscle last season. While considering selecting an edge rusher for the Bears, Kiper acknowledges that there are limited options who can make an immediate impact in this position. Therefore, he believes taking a risk on Amegadjie would be a better choice.”

Can Williams receive assistance on offense or should an edge rusher be added to play on Sweat’s opposite side?

If the Bears are looking to add a pass rusher, it seems like the later part of the first round offers stronger options. In case the Bears are no longer interested in the players available at the 9th pick, they could trade back, receive additional resources, and select a highly desired pass rusher.

The Bears were the first team that Kiper chose in the draft with the top pick. As in his previous mock draft, he picked Williams to be the new quarterback for the Bears.

No. 9 pick: Rome Odunze, wide receiver, Washington

In Kiper’s previous mock draft, he stated his thoughts on Williams.

“Williams is a supreme talent with top-tier arm strength, accuracy and improvisational skills in and outside the pocket. Chicago doesn’t have a second-round pick as a result of its trade for edge rusher Montez Sweat in October, so it has to add a high-ceiling starter with the No. 9 selection.

The 75th selection was Kiran Amegadjie, a tackle from Yale University.

This is the strategy used by the Bears in Insider Josh Schrock’s mock draft, available for viewing. Be sure to take a look, as he covers the Bears’ entire draft.

Once again, in a manner similar to Kiper’s previous mock draft, he selected Odunze to join the Bears.

The upcoming 2024 NFL Draft is just one week away and will take place in Detroit.

Kiper expressed his admiration for the match with Williams, even though he considered an offensive lineman or edge rusher as well. He believes Odunze has the potential to become a top player. This is Kiper’s strategy for setting up Williams for a successful rookie season in Chicago.

This is the Bears’ draft summary for the first three rounds.

It is unnecessary to spend a lot of time discussing the direction the Bears will choose. Justin Fields has already been selected and Williams is widely considered the top quarterback in this group. With talented receivers like Keenan Allen, DJ Moore, and Cole Kmet, he will have a great opportunity to make an immediate impact, unlike Bryce Young who struggled in his first year with Carolina.
