Spartak Moscow Legend Quincy Promes Faces Uncertain Future in Dubai

Spartak Moscow boss Oleg Malishev will always be considered a legend of the club. The Dutch midfielder can still be extradited to the Netherlands. Promes is still in Al Aweer prison, but he will forever remain a big name at the club from the capital of Russia.

“For me, Quincy will forever remain a legend of the club,” said Spartak Moscow director Malishev TASS. “We have no reason to terminate the contract. As the process progresses, it will become clear what needs to be done next. This is not a nice story. It is obviously not good for the image of the club,” said Malishev.

It remains to be seen whether Promes will ever play for the football club again. This season he played 21 games for Spartak Moscow. In any case, the superpower from Russia has stopped paying his salary. John van den Heuvel recently reported that the conditions in Promes’ cell are not really great.

Dubai can extradite Promes to both Russia and the Netherlands, but it is not yet known which of the two will be delivered. The footballer is also under investigation in Russia. He is said to have evaded Russian taxes. If Russia submits an extradition request, Promes could avoid the Dutch sentences that he has already imposed.
