Storm starter Eren Dinkçi (22/currently Heidenheim, on loan from Werder Bremen) has a new club from the summer: As already indicated, the highly sought-after striker will play for SC Freiburg from the new season. According to BILD information, Dinkçi signed a long-term contract in Freiburg on Tuesday afternoon.

Thanks to an exit clause (valid until May 15th), the sports club only has to transfer 5 million to Bremen for the 22-year-old (market value 10 million), thereby securing one of the most exciting storm hopes in the Bundesliga at a significantly lower price.
The clubs also announced the transfer at 12.30 p.m. on Thursday. Bremen’s professional boss Clemens Fritz (43): “We very much regret that Eren decided against Werder Bremen. (…) In the discussions we showed Eren what role we planned for him in the next season and also made him a good offer from a financial point of view.”

Freiburg’s sports director Klemens Hartenbach (59) is pleased: “Eren has a very exciting and flexible profile. This is demonstrated, among other things, by qualities such as speed and a good understanding of the game combined with his finishing quality. We have known him since his U19 days at Werder and now want to work together to make him an even more complete player.”
Bitter for Werder: If Dinkçi had moved to a Champions League participant, the release clause would have been higher. However, the club had already been expecting a departure in the last few weeks, but tried until the end to persuade the Bremen native to stay with a contract extension on significantly improved conditions.

Dinkçi is really getting off to a flying start this season at newly promoted Heidenheim, having already scored 8 goals and contributed four more assists. He also impresses with incredible speed and holds the league’s speed record this season (36.41 km/h). Many teams from the Bundesliga, but also from abroad, were close to Dinkçi. In addition to Freiburg, TSG Hoffenheim was also recently considered a candidate. But: Freiburg is in the running and has been courting the striker intensively for months.
That was well received by the player. Dinkçi: “The people in charge in Freiburg approached me relatively early on and gave me a good feeling right from the start. It was already clear to me that I wanted to take this path.”

While Werder lost their second promising attacker in the summer, alongside Nick Woltemade (22/moving to Stuttgart on a free transfer), Freiburg achieved their first exclamation mark for their first season without legendary coach Christian Streich (58).
And: According to BILD information, new coach Julian Schuster (38) can look forward to at least one other new addition to his Freiburg start alongside Dinkçi. The transfer of Patrick Osterhage (24/VfL Bochum) is becoming more and more apparent and will most likely be completed by the summer.
