Shohei Ohtani Shuts Out Toronto Blue Jays Fans in Impressive Debut at Rogers Center

Toronto Blue Jays fans greeted Shohei Ohtani sharply in his first at-bat at Rogers Center. The Japanese striker found the best way to shut them out.

It was to loud boos that Ohtani came up to bat in the first inning as the second hitter and like in a Hollywood movie, he knocked a shot from starter Chris Bassitt over the outfield fence. right for a circuit, much to the amazement of the crowd.

In his second at-bat in the game, in the third inning, he drew a walk. He came to score a few moments later on a double from Will Smith.

Bassitt had a nightmare outing for the Jays. The pitcher allowed six runs in only the third inning and left the mound without completing it. In two and two-thirds innings, he allowed seven runs, nine hits and three walks.

Trevor Richards recorded the final takedown of the round at Ohtani’s expense.

Before signing with the Dodgers on a ten-year contract for $700 million, Ohtani reportedly had intense negotiations with Blue Jays management to the point where media outlets even began tracking a plane which supposedly brought the star player to the Queen City. In the end, Ohtani was not on board the plane to the great dismay of the Jays before putting his signature at the bottom of the most lucrative contract in the history of the Los Angeles side.

Details to come.
