Sevilla sees the light in Las Palmas and Granada clings to a miracle

Athletic’s party ended in the 95th minute against Villarreal

Almería tied (2-2) against Real Sociedad

MADRID, 14 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sevilla found three points of peace (0-2) against UD Las Palmas on matchday 31 of LaLiga EA Sports, while Granada beat Deportivo Alavés (2-0) to still trust in the miracle of salvation, in a Sunday back to work for the Cup champion, an Athletic Club that tied with Villarreal.

Quique Sánchez Flores’ team chained their second consecutive victory, after the break due to the dispute for the cup title, and added 34 points that they know end to suffering. The expulsion of Saúl Coco after six minutes, which was not even a foul for local coach García Pimienta, conditioned the morning match in Gran Canaria.

Sevilla thus had the leading role and, despite missing many chances, ended up finding the net through En-Nesyri in the 43rd minute. The sentence did not come until injury time, a goal from Lukebakio, but the Andalusian team earned something from the April Fair. Meanwhile, Las Palmas, with one victory in the last 10 games, continues to let itself go in a bad end to the campaign.

Also at the bottom, Granada ended their bad dynamic against a Deportivo Alavés that, with 32 points, seems determined to suffer. José Ramón Sandoval’s men, with 17 and still 11 from safety with 21 at stake, clung to the miracle with goals from Uzuni, from a penalty, and Lucas Boyé, both in the first half of Nuevo Los Cármenes.

The Basque team reacted in the second half, but Granada saved its first victory since January 3, the third of the entire season, to at least continue fighting. That is what Almería, bottom with 14 points, must think after tying (2-2) against Real Sociedad with a penalty goal from Adrián Embarba in the 88th minute.

Pepe Mel’s team took the lead through Embarba himself in an entertaining first half, where Real reacted with Becker’s 1-1 lead. The locals had more chances and Anoeta soon scored Oyarzabal’s second goal, but alive at the end, Almería looked for it until they found Zubeldia’s penalty against ‘Choco’ Lozano.

Ramazani even had the victory for Almería, Real being knocked out from 2-2 which prevents the Basques from looking beyond sixth place, while the Andalusians show pride at least, since theirs with salvation would have to be two or three miracles.

ATHLETIC FINISHES THE PARTY IN THE 95′

At the end of Sunday, the ‘lions’ did not fail to deliver despite the hangover of a celebration as historic as their title. However, Villarreal forgave the first, with a penalty that Gerard Moreno sent to the post after ten minutes. Álex Baena also came close to scoring for the yellows, but Athletic responded with Iñaki Williams and Guruzeta.

San Mamés did not disappoint in another high-intensity match and, at the beginning of the second half, a second yellow for the visitor Santi Comesaña finished off the home team’s lead. Sancet made it 1-0 and, with the changes, Athletic endured the back-and-forth with which they wanted to end the match, until Cuadra Fernández also angered the Basques with a penalty from Yuri.

The ball hit the defender’s hand but once bounced off his leg, but the maximum penalty was converted by Parejo in the 95th minute. A point that is not worth Villarreal to push for seventh place, European with the Cup that Athletic won against Mallorca last week, and that does not help Bilbao’s goal of reaching the ‘Top 4’ that gives access to the Liga de Champions.
