The German Swimming Association (DSV) and the former national diving coach Lutz Buschkow have agreed on a court-determined settlement and have thus ended the legal proceedings against Buschkow’s dismissal without notice. A DSV spokesman confirmed this to ARD. Accordingly, both parties agreed to maintain secrecy about the agreement.

The DSV released Buschkow after the serious allegations made by ex-European champion Jan Hempel about dealing with sexual abuse during the European Championships in August 2022, and the dismissal took place later. Buschkow defended himself against this.

Hempel had publicly reported sexual abuse by a former coach and accused the then national coach Lutz Buschkow of knowing about it. Bushkov denied this. He “wasn’t informed,” he said in the FAZ.
