A 12-year-old boy from Riccione was seriously injured during a youth judo tournament in Guastalla, Reggio Emilia. The young man was immobilized on the ground following a neck maneuver during a meeting with a peer. He is currently in critical condition in Parma hospital. The match was stopped to allow medical intervention. Despite the accident, the competition, in which over 250 people participated, continued as planned. The boy, who remained conscious throughout the accident, lost sensation on the left side of his body due to severe cervical trauma. He will undergo further neurological tests.
