Serie A: Bologna-Monza 0-0 NEWS – Football

On the pitch at 8.45pm Bologna-Monza

Bologna slows down but continues their march towards Europe: with Monza they were looking for success to try to escape to fourth place and get within two points of Juventus, waiting for the response from Roma and Atalanta, instead, with Monza, a draw arrives goalless home game. The rossoblù still obtained the tenth useful result in the last 10 days, but also the second consecutive draw (after the one with Frosinone), giving their direct opponents the possibility of mending the Champions League race.

Monza, in fact, doesn’t give up anything and gets back up after the defeats against Turin and Naples. Bologna-Monza also represents the challenge between the two emerging coaches of this Serie A: Thiago Motta and Palladino, both whose contracts are expiring and waiting to define their future. Balance that remains equal, because last season it ended with a victory (both away) for each side, and in this one with two goalless draws. Coaches who love to surprise and confirmation arrives at the kick-off, with Motta giving up Calafiori for the returning Beukema and inserting Urbanski for the suspended Saelemaekers; while Palladino focuses on Bondo and Akpa Akpro in the midfield, inserting Pessina on the attacking midfield line and lining up in a mirror formation with the 4-2-3-1, to look for the coup he managed at San Siro against Milan. It begins with the minute’s silence for the Suviana tragedy: “Working is a right, living more. Close to the families affected”, is the banner displayed by the Curva Bulgarelli, while the away fans respond thus: “Monza joins the your pain.” Then we begin and it’s battle on the pitch. Bologna started strong, with a personal initiative from Orsolini and Di Gregorio who saved himself in the corner in the 25th minute. Ferguson came close to scoring on two occasions from a corner and so did Zirkzee. Monza doesn’t stand by and watches and scares the rossoblù with a couple of counterattacks by Colpani (for Pessina, header) and Zerbin, who extends Carboni’s cross for Djuric: his dish, however, is neutralized by Skorupski. The first half ends goalless, the second starts like the first, at high speed: in the 4th minute, Monza counterattack, with Pessina, Zerbin and Colpani: the latter eats up the lead with a semi-reverse kick. Bologna responds five minutes later, with Orsolini for the percussion of Ferguson and Di Gregorio coming out in an avalanche to save. Bologna wins the game and tries to break through in the 23rd minute of the second half, when Posch triggers Orsolini, who takes position on Mari, controls and finishes at the near post: Di Gregorio is always there to save in the corner. In the 33rd minute Posch again sends Freuler towards the area in percussion, but the conclusion goes off on the outside of the net. The pressure increases and in the 80th minute Orsolini shoots a free kick from the edge of the box which is won by Aebischer in the percussion. Nothing to be done, the match won’t be unlocked, not even after the substitutions and tomorrow Roma will have the opportunity to move within one point of fourth place Bologna, in view of the direct clash.
